I hope you and your loved ones are doing well, staying healthy, and navigating today’s new normal as well as possible. Despite the many challenges we’ve faced since 2020, I am hopeful for the future -- one of health, togetherness, and progress. With the cool breath of fall in the air, a few leaves changing here and there, and a bustling campus, I am so grateful that we’re able to enjoy a more typical semester here at UNLV.
The pandemic stalled many things -- manufacturing, education, healthcare, entertainment, and social activities, to name just a few -- but our UNLV team, particularly our Graduate College in partnership with graduate programs across campus, has soldiered on and is flourishing in so many important ways. One particularly exciting area of progress are our new curricular offerings at the graduate level.

The photo shoot was an opportunity for the president to spend time with graduate students as well as tour the University Gateway Building, the Graduate College's home.
Dean's Leadership Council Spotlight: Fletch Brunelle
Born and raised in Las Vegas, H. Fletch Brunelle, chair of the Graduate College’s Dean’s Leadership Council, remembers a time when 200,000 residents made up the Las Vegas community, a sharp contrast to today’s 2.2 million.
“I watched this town grow from a very small town to the unbelievable destination that it is today,” Brunelle said. “This city is really quite imaginative and the standard-bearer for tourism.”
The two-time UNLV alumnus, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1987 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1994, today serves as vice president of marketing and sales for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). He recently sat down with the Graduate College to talk about graduate education, supporting UNLV, and community involvement.
Calling UNLV Graduate Alumni Working in Higher Education
The UNLV Graduate College, in partnership with interested alumni, is building an alumni affinity group for graduates working in higher education. This group will bring together those who work in -- and believe in the importance of higher education -- with the goal of building a network that will bring value to alumni participants, Graduate College professionals, and current UNLV graduate students through conversation, networking, workshops, and highlighting both traditional and alternative career paths within higher education. Complete a brief interest form to receive more information.
