In this workshop, panelists will delve into why pronouns matter, as using a person's chosen name and pronouns is crucial for affirming their identity and showing respect. Panelists will also discuss the implications of misgendering and the legal landscape surrounding gender pronoun usage. By participating in this workshop, graduate students and faculty will enhance understanding of the use of gender pronouns and broader considerations of gender identity, sexual orientation, and gender expression, as well as build awareness of the impacts of gender pronoun legislation on campus. UNLV’s International Student and Scholar Services is offering free English Language Tutoring to all international and multilingual grad students. Friday, March 1 is the final day to apply and submit an application for graduation through the MyUNLV Student Center. Please note that a $125 graduation and diploma fee will be placed on student accounts (one fee per degree/certificate) beginning the first day of registration for the semester in which they have applied to graduate. Mar. 1: “What is at Stake in the Early Modern Debate over Jewish Ceremonial Law? Agency, Reform, and A Defense of Toleration”
Join Dr. Michael Rosenthal, philosophy professor at the University of Toronto , as he discusses a debate that developed among early modern Jewish philosophers over whether Jews should abandon ceremonial (or ritual) law as a condition of their political emancipation and cultural “improvement.” Rosenthal will also emphasize the value of religious reform and offer a possible pragmatic justification of toleration that does not ignore, but rather depends upon, the recognition of asymmetrical power relations.
