During this synchronous workshop, participants will build on the knowledge learned in the Assignments & Discussions Level 1 competencies. Participants will apply this knowledge to online group projects, incorporating various aspects of WebCampus Assignments & Discussions. Participants will also discuss potential pitfalls and how to prevent common issues from arising. The goal of this workshop is to take baseline knowledge associated with WebCampus Assignments, Discussions, and Groups and apply that information within a Group Project Design. Learning conflict resolution skills can result in improved teamwork, productivity, and employee satisfaction. Two UNLV Students Selected for the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education 2022 Graduate Student Fellows Program
Congratulations to Jeannette Hernandez, in the Sociology Ph.D. program, and Juana Hinojosa, in the Higher Education Ph.D. program, for recently being selected for the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) 2022 Graduate Student Fellows program. The AAHHE Graduate Student Fellows Program’s primary goal is to prepare Latina/o/x doctoral scholars for successful careers in academia. The program also provides support to Latina/o/x scholars interested in pursuing careers within administration and policy in post-secondary education. The fellowship will begin in September and end in March.
Fall 2022 Renewal Graduate Assistantship Applications Due
If you're currently a graduate assistant and have an agreement with your department to continue your assistantship during the fall 2022 semester, please submit a GA application in the Grad Rebel Gateway as soon as possible. Students must submit a GA application each academic year, even if they are continuing in the same position.
Feb. 21: Applications due for Inspiration, Innovation, Impact: A Celebration of Graduate Student Research
The Inspiration, Innovation, Impact event showcases the best in UNLV graduate student research. For this signature event, a select group of outstanding graduate students from a variety of colleges give short, five-minute, TED-style talks or performances showcasing their research, scholarship, or creative activities. Applicants submit an initial video (no longer than two minutes in length) by Feb. 21. This video should convey who you are, what topic you propose to speak on, and the broader impacts of your research. Learn more.
March 1: Final Day to Apply and Submit an Application for Graduation Through MyUNLV
March 1 is the final day to apply and submit an application for graduation through the MyUNLV Student Center. A $75 graduation and diploma fee will be placed on student accounts (one fee per degree/certificate) beginning the first day of registration for the semester in which they have applied to graduate; or, if registration has already opened, the fee will be applied within two business days. Students applying for graduation on or after March 2 will need to email grad.rpc@unlv.edu to request a late graduation application be added to their MyUNLV account, as the option will not be available automatically in MyUNLV after March 1. Students applying for graduation after March 1 will be assessed a $20 late fee. Learn more.
March 2: Spring 2022 Medallion Deadline
The Graduate College's Medallion Program honors exceptionally involved and high-achieving students. Graduate students who have accumulated 100 points using the point system outlined on the program's webpage can apply for a Medallion to be worn at Commencement. For students graduating in spring 2022, completed application forms must be emailed to the Graduate College by March 2. Learn more.
March 15: GPSA Travel & Research Sponsorship Deadline for Travel in May, June, and July
The GPSA offers each graduate and professional student sponsorship funding of $1,250 annually. These funds can be used for research, travel to events or conferences, or other scholarly activities. Proposals should have a direct effect on the student’s academic success and make a contribution to their field. All who receive GPSA Sponsorship funding will present their progress at the 24th Annual Graduate & Professional Student Research Forum on April 2, 2022. Learn more.

The Latinx Graduate Student Association (LGSA) is a new graduate student organization whose mission is to provide the Graduate College's Latinx/a/o and Afrolatinx/a/o students with a comunidad. Feb. 24: Extended Minority-Serving Institution Student Success Speaker Series
UNLV’s Extended Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) Student Success Speaker Series aims to highlight and grow innovative approaches to supporting student success in an equitable and inclusive learning environment. The next installment will be from 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24 in the Student Union's Cohen Theatre, followed by light refreshments in the green room from 5-5:30 p.m. This event features presenters from the MSI Student Council, which includes several UNLV Graduate College students. Each presenter will discuss projects they are spearheading to reduce inequity and to promote educational success for students of color and other underrepresented students in higher education at UNLV. Join the UNLV Office of Economic Development, Black Fire Innovation, and the UNLV Graduate College on April 6 at 4 p.m. for the inaugural President's Innovation Challenge, where you’ll hear teams of students present their innovative solutions to this question.
