Feb. 15: Robert E. Lang Memorial Fellowship Deadline Extension
The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West have extended the application deadline for the Robert E. Lang Memorial Fellowship for the 2024-25 academic year until February 15. Students from all academic disciplines are welcome and encouraged to apply for this fellowship. The Robert E. Lang Memorial Fellowship is awarded to UNLV Ph.D. students who have advanced to candidacy and who have an approved Ph.D. dissertation prospectus. Special consideration is given to eligible applicants with dissertation topics focused on the Las Vegas metropolitan region and public policy in the Mountain West. This package - worth approximately $30,000 - covers tuition, fees, full health insurance benefits, and provides a monthly stipend for each semester of the fellowship. Interested doctoral candidates should apply by logging in to the Grad Rebel Gateway, and submitting their application via the scholarship application portal. The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts and scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, and back injuries, and heat and cold emergencies. Friday, March 1 is the final day to apply and submit an application for graduation through the MyUNLV Student Center. Please note that a $125 graduation and diploma fee will be placed on student accounts (one fee per degree/certificate) beginning the first day of registration for the semester in which they have applied to graduate. This workshop is part of the Brookings Scholar Lecture Series. Join Brookings senior fellow in governance studies Elaine Kamarck for a lecture that will examine why every four years the major political parties undertake a drawn-out, confusing series of primaries, caucuses, and conventions to determine their presidential nominees. Join UNLVolunteers to build peanut butter and jelly sandwich lunch bags to hand out during the community lunch hour at the Salvation Army. Volunteers who would like to participate in both the meal prep and delivery shift should make sure to sign up for both.
For the meal-prep shift, volunteers will participate in a short educational activity followed immediately by preparing lunch bags to hand out at the Salvation Army. During the delivery shift, volunteers will be delivering and distributing the bags with the group during Salvation Army's community lunch hour. Volunteers may also be asked to aid and assist in the Salvation Army’s kitchen prior to and during the community lunch.
