Spring 2024 Career and Internship Fair Student Ambassador Program
UNLV Career Services and Workforce Development is seeking student ambassadors to participate in this year’s Career and Internship Fair. This is a great opportunity for student leaders to work with employers, ask questions, address concerns, and get a different view of a career fair. Graduate Research Opportunity Fellowship Application Now Open
The Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium (NVSGC) has recently released the 2024-2025 NASA Scholarship and Fellowship solicitations. These funding opportunities are aimed at full-time students who are U.S. citizens enrolled at a Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institution. The NASA Office of STEM Engagement requires that all awards/projects specifically address a Mission Directorate research priority. Feb. 9: Spring 2024 Student Health Insurance Waiver
The deadline to submit a student health insurance waiver for the spring 2024 semester is Friday, Feb. 9, 2024. Students who already completed a waiver for the 2023-24 academic year do not need to complete another waiver. This waiver period is only for students who were enrolled in courses during the fall 2023 semester but did not complete a waiver and would like to waive out of the student health insurance for the spring 2024 semester, or were not enrolled in courses during the fall 2023 semester but are enrolling in courses in the spring 2024 semester and would like to waive out of the student health insurance for the spring 2024 semester. If students do not complete a new waiver for the spring 2024 semester by Friday, Feb. 9, the charge will remain on their account, and they will be enrolled in the student health insurance. Despite the exemplary service of most American military officers, a persistent minority of U.S. flag officers (Navy admirals and Army, Air Force, and Marine generals) have embroiled the profession in scandal since the Revolutionary War. Join the UNLVolunteers for a day helping out animals at the Animal Foundation. During this time, volunteers will help clean kennels and ensure the animals have proper kennel setups. The last hour of service will include passing out treats to the dogs and cats. Learn more and RSVP.

Join psychology and cognitive science professor Paul Bloom for a discussion about pain and suffering. Drawing on research from developmental psychology, anthropology, and behavioral economics, Bloom argues that seemingly paradoxical choices, such as training for a marathon or signing up to go to war, show that humans are driven by non-hedonistic goals; they revel in difficult practice, aspire towards moral goodness, seek out meaningful lives.
