A Message From Academic Affairs
Our campus community is still healing from the December 6th tragedy, and retrieving personal items that you may have left behind that day is an important part of the healing process.
A dedicated team has gathered personal items from all UNLV classrooms and the Student Union. To retrieve your belongings, complete the University Police Services' property retrieval form. Someone will contact you once we receive your form. If your items are found, you can pick them up in the Lied Library's first-floor Quiet Study Room during the specified hours:

Thursdays: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
If the designated times are inconvenient, please email svpaa@unlv.edu to schedule an alternative pick-up appointment. Please bring your RebelCard or another photo ID when claiming your items.

Jan. 22: Collaborative Research: A Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada Case Study

Join Marcedes Butler and Jeff Shih for a captivating exploration of community engagement with a specific focus on the UNLV College of Education’s partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada. Jan. 30: Academic Job Search Demystified Series: Preparing for a Multiple Day Interview
This workshop, from the Academic Job Search Demystified series, will focus on unpacking the academic job interview process, a pivotal stage in becoming a faculty member. By participating in this workshop, students will gain understanding of the academic interview process and expectations, learn strategies for how to confidently communicate scholarly accomplishments and pedagogical approaches, and discuss how to gracefully address common, challenging, or unexpected questions. Feb. 15: Robert E. Lang Memorial Fellowship Deadline Extension
The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West have extended the application deadline for the Robert E. Lang Memorial Fellowship for the 2024-25 academic year until February 15. Students from all academic disciplines are welcome and encouraged to apply for this fellowship. The Robert E. Lang Memorial Fellowship is awarded to UNLV Ph.D. students who have advanced to candidacy and who have an approved Ph.D. dissertation prospectus. Special consideration is given to eligible applicants with dissertation topics focused on the Las Vegas metropolitan region and public policy in the Mountain West. This package - worth approximately $30,000 - covers tuition, fees, full health insurance benefits, and provides a monthly stipend for each semester of the fellowship. Interested doctoral candidates should apply by logging in to the Grad Rebel Gateway, and submitting their application via the scholarship application portal. Feb. 15: Carolee Dodge Francis DreamCatcher Scholarship Deadline Extension
The American Indian Research and Education Center has extended the application deadline for the Carolee Dodge Francis, DreamCatcher Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year until February 15.
Jan. 26: Last Wait List Run
January 26 is the final day to be placed in classes students are on the waitlist for. For more information, contact the Registrar’s Office.
Feb. 9: Spring 2024 Student Health Insurance Waiver
The deadline to submit a student health insurance waiver for the spring 2024 semester is Friday, Feb. 9, 2024. Students who already completed a waiver for the 2023-24 academic year do not need to complete another waiver. This waiver period is only for students who were enrolled in courses during the fall 2023 semester but did not complete a waiver and would like to waive out of the student health insurance for the spring 2024 semester, or were not enrolled in courses during the fall 2023 semester but are enrolling in courses in the spring 2024 semester and would like to waive out of the student health insurance for the spring 2024 semester. If students do not complete a new waiver for the spring 2024 semester by Friday, Feb. 9, the charge will remain on their account, and they will be enrolled in the student health insurance. Join Student Involvement and Activities for the Spring 2024 Involvement Fair. This is an event where students can learn about UNLV Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), departments, and non-profit community organizations in the Las Vegas area. The Involvement Fair is also an opportunity for RSOs to meet new students, collaborate with other organizations, and network with partners in the community. Learn more.
Join speakers Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano, Founders of SIR Video, for a wide-ranging conversation that will traverse 1990s lesbian-queer San Francisco. The creative masterminds behind a series of award-winning feminist adult films, the duo drew their inspiration from the various sex-positive worlds they inhabited. Rednour and Strano will discuss how their films, and their archive, which is now housed in UNLV's Special Collections and Archives, capture a bygone era in which San Francisco’s queer, working-class creatives made zines, art, music, and sex-positive media with the knowledge that even if their projects failed, they could still pay their rent and stay afloat in the city they loved. Jan. 26: UndocuAlly Training with the Undocumented Student Program
The Undocumented Student Program (USP) will host UndocuAlly trainings for faculty, staff, students, and administration to encourage the development of a safe and welcoming campus for undocumented students. This presentation aims to increase faculty, staff, and student knowledge about the unique needs of undocumented communities, as well as policies and language related to immigration.
