Apply to be an Event Supervisor for the Virtual 2022 Nevada Science Olympiad
The Nevada Science Olympiad (NVSO) will take place virtually on Saturday, March 26, and UNLV graduate students are invited to work as event supervisors. Event supervisors will join the team of UNLV and CCSD educators to develop a 50-minute assessment of a predetermined STEM event. For their efforts, event supervisors will receive a $200 scholarship that can be used for research, tuition, books, or applied toward conference travel. Students may sign up for up to two timeslots. The Writing Center's spring 2022 services and hours are as follows:
In-person consultations (located in CDC Building 3) are open Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Virtual consultations are available Sunday 12-5 p.m., Monday-Thursday 2-7 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Submissions to the Online Writing Lab (OWL) for a 24-hour minimum turnaround can be
made virtually through the Writing Center website at any time.
Quick questions that can be answered in 10 minutes or less may be submitted in person,
via email or Google Chat at writingcenter@unlv.edu, or over the phone by calling 702-895-

Feb. 7: Applications due for Summer Institute in Latino Humanities Studies Methodologies and Theories and Predoctoral Research Fellowship
The Crossing Latinidades Humanities Research Initiative is accepting applications from pre-candidacy doctoral students for the Summer Institute, a two-week intensive training on comparative Latino Humanities Studies research methodologies and theoretical frameworks. The Summer Institute will take place June 26-July 10 at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and selected applicants will receive a $3,000 stipend. Participants of the Summer Institute will be considered for a Predoctoral Research Fellowship that awards a $30,000 stipend for fall, spring, and summer 2022-23.

Feb. 9: Last Day to Submit Student Health Insurance Waiver for the Academic Year
The deadline to submit a waiver for the spring 2022 semester is Tuesday, Feb. 9. The waiver link will be turned off on Feb. 9. Thus, if students fail to submit their waiver by the end of the day on Feb. 9, they will be required to pay the cost for student health insurance for the spring 2022 semester, and late fees will be charged if the student health insurance fee is not paid by Feb. 9. This is non-negotiable. The waiver covers the academic year. Students will need to waive out every academic year. Learn more.
Feb. 21: Applications due for Inspiration, Innovation, Impact: A Celebration of Graduate Student Research
The Inspiration, Innovation, Impact event showcases the best in UNLV graduate student research. For this signature event, a select group of outstanding graduate students from a variety of colleges give short, five-minute, TED-style talks or performances showcasing their research, scholarship, or creative activities. Applicants submit an initial video (no longer than two minutes in length) by Feb. 21. This video should convey who you are, what topic you propose to speak on, and the broader impacts of your research. Learn more.
March 1: Final Day to Apply and Submit an Application for Graduation Through MyUNLV
March 1 is the final day to apply and submit an application for graduation through the MyUNLV Student Center. A $75 graduation and diploma fee will be placed on student accounts (one fee per degree/certificate) beginning the first day of registration for the semester in which they have applied to graduate; or, if registration has already opened, the fee will be applied within two business days. Students applying for graduation on or after March 2 will need to email grad.rpc@unlv.edu to request a late graduation application be added to their MyUNLV account, as the option will not be available automatically in MyUNLV after March 1. Students applying for graduation after March 1 will be assessed a $20 late fee. Learn more.
March 15: GPSA Travel & Research Sponsorship Deadline for Travel in May, June, and July
The GPSA offers each graduate and professional student sponsorship funding of $1,250 annually. These funds can be used for research, travel to events or conferences, or other scholarly activities. Proposals should have a direct effect on the student’s academic success and make a contribution to their field. All who receive GPSA Sponsorship funding will present their progress at the 24th Annual Graduate & Professional Student Research Forum on April 2, 2022. Learn more.

If you are a current student who has paid the Student Health Fee, you have access to free nutrition consultations with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist through the Student Wellness Center. Common reasons for visits include: fad diets, sports nutrition, diabetes management, weight management, healthy eating habits, cholesterol or blood pressure management, and disordered eating.
