Important Information Regarding MyUNLV Demographic Updates
All students have been assigned the Student Contact and Demographic Information Check task in MyUNLV to ensure their information is up-to-date in UNLV's systems. Starting this year, MyUNLV also allows students to voluntarily share information on their pronouns, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Thanksgiving Day Recess
The UNLV campus will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving Day recess, beginning Nov. 23. Normal campus operations will resume on Monday, Nov. 27.
Nov. 22: President's Innovation Challenge Interest Form Deadline
The President's Innovation Challenge is a student team competition that encourages the exploration of social and business entrepreneurship to help solve major contemporary issues in Southern Nevada and across the globe. Teams form during the fall semester, acquiring necessary skills and submitting proposals. Top proposals advance to the next round of competition in the spring, where final solutions are presented to a panel of judges at the President's Innovation Challenge event. The winning teams will receive cash prizes from a pool of $50,000, including a grand prize of $25,000. This year's challenge is to utilize generative artificial intelligence and other technologies to develop tools and platforms that can improve outcomes for students and teachers. Feb. 9: Spring 2024 Student Health Insurance Waiver Deadline
The deadline to submit a student health insurance waiver for the spring 2024 semester is Friday, Feb. 9, 2024. Students who already completed a waiver for the 2023-24 academic year do not need to complete another waiver. This waiver period is only for students who were enrolled in courses during the fall 2023 semester but did not complete a waiver and would like to waive out of the student health insurance for the spring 2024 semester, or were not enrolled in courses during the fall 2023 semester but are enrolling in courses in the spring 2024 semester and would like to waive out of the student health insurance for the spring 2024 semester. If students do not complete a new waiver for the spring 2024 semester by Feb. 9, the charge will remain on their account and they will be enrolled in the student health insurance. Learn more.
UNLV's Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) chapter will meet to discuss moral and legal debates at the intersection of religious freedom, free-speech, and anti-discrimination law. MAP discussions and events highlight the work of members of underrepresented groups in philosophy and the particular issues they face both within academic philosophy and in daily life. Learn more.
Join the Graduate College for the final round of the Rebel Grad Slam 3MT, where graduate students compete to win over the judges and audience by presenting their research in three minutes, using only one slide. The final round will feature students who have advanced throughout the competition. A reception with a hosted bar and hors d'oeuvres will take place after the competition. Learn more and RSVP.
Dec. 4: My Professional Origin Story with Imelda Reyes
Join the UNLV Graduate College to hear from Imelda Reyes about her professional journey. A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Reyes is the interim dean at the UNLV School of Nursing. Her non-traditional journey includes stops as a naval officer and nurse practitioner. The My Professional Origin Story series highlights the professional journeys of UNLV faculty and administrators.
