Oct. 20: The Metaverse (Not Necessarily Facebook's Version): A Beginner's Guide and Immersive Experience
What is the Metaverse? Is it Meta's attempt to dominate this new emerging market and lead humanity to the dystopian future portrayed in movies, or is it the technological evolution that will enrich the human experience?
Come and learn how the Metaverse and its ilk are being used today and explore virtual worlds in person.
Attendees will learn about the Metaverse and how to interface and navigate virtual worlds. Participants will gain an introductory understanding of the Metaverse economy and the integration of Web3 technology.
Hands-on demonstrations will be available for those comfortable with using VR headsets. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary.

During their academic careers, many graduate students are assigned teaching roles. Whether teaching as an assistant or the instructor of record, knowing how to plan and manage a class is important. These skills help you make the best use of your resources and offer students a structured and rewarding experience. Several pedagogical techniques can support your planning and management of attendance, lectures, activities, and assignments. By attending this workshop, you will learn some of these techniques and how to use them in in-person and online teaching environments.

Participate in the Graduate College's Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis Competition, where graduate students compete to win over the judges and audience for a chance at scholarship money. Oct. 31: President’s Innovation Challenge Participant Interest Form
Participate in the 2nd annual UNLV President's Innovation Challenge, a multidisciplinary team competition that encourages social and business entrepreneurship to help solve major challenges, for a chance at winning a prize from the $50,000 total prize pool. This year’s challenge, which will culminate in the spring with a showcase event, focuses on sustainability but is not limited to science and engineering! Imagine a new communication platform to raise awareness of carbon impact or a game-based learning product to educate children on sustainability or anything in between.
