Jan. 23: Financial Habits, Saving & Budgeting

Building constructive habits around budgeting, saving, and spending your money can help you achieve your life goals and peace of mind with minimal financial stress. By attending this workshop you will learn about: financial challenges for graduate students, budgeting strategies, how to save for emergencies, and more. Learn more.
Jan. 25: Articulating and Actualizing Stated Commitments to Diversity, Race Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice
10 a.m-12 p.m., University Gateway Building
How can past and continuing complex legacies of racism be effectively addressed in institutional contexts? What can individual people, communities, and organizations do to hasten and sustain systemic change? In this workshop you will: learn to unpack the "to form a more perfect union" ideal; explore the concept of critical hope; and examine notions of individual, group, and institutional commitment, obligation, and accountability to co-create and co-actualize policies and practices designed to erode, dismantle, and eradicate systemic racism. Take What You Need Events
On Feb. 2, March 23, and April 13, UNLV will offer Take What You Need events where UNLV community members can secure basic needs items such as toiletries and personal hygiene products, non-perishable food, clothing, bedding and other linens, etc. The events will take place in the Student Union from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Walk-ups are welcome, but participants are asked to anonymously identify a time slot in advance so traffic can be better managed. Student Support Spot for Basic Needs
UNLV's new Student Support Spot is open. The Student Support Spot provides free food packages; toiletry items; and guidance to students facing basic needs challenges (food, housing, transportation, mental health, child care, and digital access). Located in the University Gateway Building in the Welcome Center on the second floor, the Student Support Spot is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Learn more.
SNAP Benefits at the P.O.D. Market
Students, faculty, and staff can now use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits at the P.O.D. Market in the Student Union.
Thesis/Dissertation Office Hours
Students with questions about their thesis or dissertation can take advantage of the Graduate College's thesis and dissertation office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 12-2 p.m. Email grad.td@unlv.edu at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a virtual appointment. Learn more.
Rutgers Symposium for Students Looking for Postdoctoral Scholar Positions
The Neuro RECEPTR, a symposium taking place April 27-28 at Rutgers University, is designed to connect graduate students with faculty looking for postdoctoral scholars. The symposium features graduate student and faculty talks. If interested in participating, apply by Jan. 30. For those selected, Rutgers will pay for their flight, two night-accommodation, and food. Feb. 9: Spring 2023 Health Insurance Waiver
The deadline to submit a student health insurance waiver for the spring 2023 semester is Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023. Students who already completed a waiver for the 2022-23 academic year do not need to complete another waiver. This waiver period is only for students who were enrolled in courses during the fall 2022 semester but did not complete a waiver and would like to waive out of the student health insurance for the spring 2023 semester, or were not enrolled in courses during the fall 2022 semester but are enrolled in courses in the spring 2023 semester and would like to waive out of the student health insurance for the spring 2023 semester. If students do not complete a new waiver for the spring 2023 semester, the charge will remain on their account and they will be enrolled in the student health insurance. Learn more.

YOU@UNLV pools support resources in one user-friendly interface with the goal of supporting students throughout their time at UNLV. The online portal allows users to assess their current physical, mental, and social needs and pair them with campus resources or online tools.
