Join the University Libraries for this introductory workshop on music sampling. David Ramos Candelas, multimedia & design specialist, will lead a demonstration to highlight different approaches to sampling using FL Studio 20, a software available in Lied Library's multimedia studios.
The workshop will help you learn how sampling applies to hip-hop music, how to manipulate sounds from other songs to create your own using FL Studio 20, and about the University Libraries' multimedia resources to support music/podcasting/video production.

Deep work, coined by author and associate professor Dr. Cal Newport, is our ability to focus on and do cognitively demanding work without distractions. Training this skill has two key benefits: 1) we prioritize tasks and achieve more during dedicated working hours, and 2) we reclaim personal time for ourselves and our loved ones. This workshop will teach graduate students how to obtain these benefits by establishing a deep work practice.

Graduate & Professional Student Association Cap & Gown Lending Program
The Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA) Cap & Gown Lending Program is available to students who may be experiencing financial hardship and would like to borrow regalia to walk at graduation. Cap and gown rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis with a $40 cash deposit upon pickup ($20 will be returned once the cap and gown are dropped back off). This cost covers dry cleaning so the GPSA can keep the program running. Learn more.
UNLV Food Pantry Offers Monthly Farmers Markets
The UNLV Food Pantry offers monthly farmers markets to both UNLV and non-UNLV members of the community who may benefit from supplemental food. The next Food Pantry Farmers Market will take place on March 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot next to the Stan Fulton Building. This event is free to attend, and no payment will be needed to obtain food items. The UNLV Food Pantry is a year-round resource that provides perishable and non-perishable food items to students, staff, and faculty who need additional support.
If you’re graduating with a doctoral degree and would like to purchase custom academic regalia through the UNLV Bookstore, the deadline to submit an order is March 10.
