GRAD REBEL MENTOR December '18
BEST PRACTICES
Checking in with the Graduate & Professional Student Association
The GPSA promotes and represents the interests of graduate and professional students at UNLV and provides a variety of professional development and funding opportunities.
As the semester and calendar year wind down, I want to take a moment to thank you for your support of the Graduate College and our students. This semester was one of the busiest in recent memory, and you met it with unwavering enthusiasm and dedication. I am so grateful for all you do!
Trevor Pollom, a Ph.D. student in Anthropology, won the 2018 Rebel Grad Slam competition on Nov. 2. The College of Liberal Arts will hold on to the Rebel Grad Slam 'stache trophy until next year's competition.
Supporting successful student progress is a priority for the Graduate College and the University. All graduate students complete a mandatory student annual review survey during December and January that is centrally administered by the Graduate College to assess their yearly academic progress. Reported student data shared with their graduate coordinators and advisors can foster opportunities to not only identify students’ strengths and weaknesses but also establish mentoring plans so that students can progress successfully through their programs.

Graduate Showcase and #RebelsGive
On Oct. 12, the Graduate College hosted the third annual Graduate Showcase, giving some of the best and brightest students from across campus a chance to present their work. The event capped the College's #RebelsGive effort, which resulted in more than 215 gifts totaling more than $16,000. Thank you for your support!

Dec. 15th Deadline to Appoint New Spring Graduate Assistants
