April 4: Showing Impact in the Arts
1:30-2:30 p.m., Virtual
Join the University Libraries for this introductory workshop to learn about the variety of ways to demonstrate the significance, impact, and reach of the unique types of scholarly and creative works in the visual and performing arts and other related disciplines. This workshop briefly covers researcher IDs, bibliometrics, and altmetrics; however, the main focus will be on other methods of showing impact in the arts.

April 6: Articulating and Actualizing Stated Commitments to Diversity, Race Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice
11 a.m.-1 p.m., In-person meeting location will be provided after you RSVP
It has been nearly three years since the murder of Mr. George Floyd intensified long-standing calls to action for race equity and racial justice. While the calls continue and action persists, mainstream attention and commitments to change have waned, emboldened by white supremacist autocracy. By participating in this workshop, you will: unpack the "to form a more perfect union" ideal vis-á-vis the contention, put forth by critical legal scholars, that racism is permanent; explore the concept of critical hope; and discuss how situated contexts, positionalities, and standpoints impact personal engagement in change work and can be strategically leveraged to bring about structural change.

April 6: Coffee or Retirement: Which Benefits You More?

Life doesn’t stop when the economy takes a downward spiral, inflation rises at a record pace, or when a recession becomes a reality. These are just bumps in the road when you are in school or the workforce, but are you preparing yourself financially to overcome these obstacles when you are retired? By participating in this workshop, you will: identify common financial mistakes that can affect both your short- and long-term goals, discover the benefits of tax-free retirement growth, and discuss the Rule of 72.

April 14: 8th Annual Inspiration, Innovation, Impact: A Celebration of Graduate Student Accomplishments
Join the Graduate College for the Inspiration, Innovation, Impact event, which showcases the best in UNLV graduate and professional student scholarly and creative activity. Graduate students will present five-minute, TED-style talks or performances around this year’s theme of “Power in Diversity: Unlocking Creativity and Research Together.” In addition, the audience will hear from a panel of UNLV faculty members and graduate students. May 12: Spring 2023 Commencement - Graduate Degree and Certificate Students
The spring 2023 commencement ceremony for all candidates for doctoral, master’s, specialist, artist diploma degrees, and graduate certificates will be held on Friday, May 12 at 4 p.m. in the Thomas & Mack Center. Tickets are not required to attend. The ceremony will also be livestreamed. Learn more.
