Apr. 17: Submitting Your Thesis or Dissertation
10-11 a.m., Lied Library, Pioche Room and Virtual
In this workshop, participants will learn about the role of the University Libraries in submitting a thesis or dissertation to Digital Scholarship@UNLV and ProQuest. This workshop will walk participants through the submission process and review the benefits of making work publicly available. Embargo options for publication will also be explored. Apr. 18: Showing Impact in the Arts
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Lied Library, Pioche Room and Virtual
In this introductory workshop, participants will learn about the variety of ways to demonstrate the significance, impact, and reach of the unique types of scholarly and creative works in the visual and performing arts and other related disciplines. By attending this workshop, participants will learn about tools and resources available to show the impact of scholarly and creative works, compare and discuss quantitative and qualitative practices for demonstrating impact, and understand a variety of methods for telling the story of the significance, reach, and impact of work.     May 1: Autumn Davis Memorial Scholarship Applications Due
    The Autumn Davis Memorial Scholarship seeks to support students who will be pursuing a career in the mental health field. This award is open to any high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student with at least a 3.0 GPA and is pursuing a career in mental health. Learn more and apply.
    Late Applications for Graduation Due
    Students applying for graduation on or after March 2 will need to email grad.rpc@unlv.edu to request a late graduation application be added to their MyUNLV account, as the option will not be available automatically in MyUNLV after March 1. Students applying for graduation after March 1 will be assessed a $20 late fee. Learn more.

    Anthropology Proseminar: "From Archaeological Sites to User Interfaces: The Transition from Bioarchaeology to UX Research"

    As part of the Department of Anthropology’s Proseminar Speaker Series, Terren Proctor, Ph.D., will provide a talk titled "From Archaeological Sites to User Interfaces: The Transition from Bioarchaeology to UX Research." Proctor will discuss adapting anthropological research methods for UX research applications, underscoring the importance of understanding human behavior and cultural dynamics in the creation of user-centered financial technology solutions. The presentation aims to provide an overview of the process of transitioning professional identities and integrating into a new industry. Learn more.

    Join Associate Professor at Georgetown University Robynn Stilwell for a discussion about the interaction of music and movement in film, video, television, dance, and sport. Stilwell will discuss Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) and The Native Americans (1994), as well as the songs of Sebastian Robertson in these productions. Learn more.

    In this lecture, James Beard Award-winning author Kim Foster will discuss the meaning of food in different contexts. Specifically, Foster will examine the ways food can signify and complicate dysfunction in Las Vegas, for both individuals and communities–those with empty tables, and those with full plates.     Native UNLV and the Las Vegas urban Indigenous community are collaborating to present the 3rd annual Powwow for the Planet. This event aims to champion cultural preservation and leadership development amongst Native youth, advocacy for environmental justice and the protection of Indigenous sacred places in Nevada.
