Sept. 20 & 21: Strengthen Your Profile: Handshake and LinkedIn Workshop
1:30-2:30 p.m. and 12-1 p.m., Lied Library, Amargosa Room or Virtual
In this workshop, students will learn how to strengthen their Handshake and LinkedIn profiles. This workshop is part of the Life Design and Career Readiness Workshops series presented by UNLV Career Services, the Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach, and University Libraries. Sept. 20: Building Your Brand: Leveraging Online Platforms To Get Noticed

Professional self-branding is an opportunity to communicate your unique skills and assets. Strategically building your professional brand helps establish your reputation, build your network, create opportunities, and accelerate your career growth. Specifically, LinkedIn is a networking platform where you can showcase your professional brand, including current projects, accomplishments, and research. Sept. 23: Toward Educational Equity and Transformation

In this workshop, students will learn about how diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice operate within higher education and strategies for developing a practice of equity mindedness. We want to hear from graduate students. Casting Call for UNLV Episode of The College Tour
UNLV is casting fun and engaging students for an upcoming episode of Amazon Prime's The College Tour! Students interested in being featured are asked to create a two-minute video sharing their story and why they love UNLV. Learn more and apply by Sept. 21.
Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis Competition
Think you can present your research in just three minutes using one slide? Participate in the Graduate College's Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis Competition, where graduate students compete to win over the judges and audience for a chance at scholarship money. This year's weeklong competition will take place Oct. 31-Nov. 4. Learn more and apply by Oct. 17.

To help presenters prepare for the competition, the Graduate College on Oct. 11 will host a virtual workshop that will cover strategies for streamlining important aspects of your research, designing a slide that will stand out, and presentation pitfalls and successes. Hispanic-Serving Institution Week Short Essay Contest
In celebration of National Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Week, the UNLV Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) Student Council wants to hear from UNLV students about what it means to them to attend an HSI and what they would like to see at UNLV as an HSI. Submit an essay that’s less than 500 words by Sept. 22 for a chance to win up to $1,000. Learn more.

Sept. 20: We Need To Talk About Critical Race Theory

Critical race theory is a topic we’ve heard about in the media and in political campaigns. What actually is critical race theory? It seemingly appeared out of nowhere and took over the airwaves, but where did it come from? Is it really a concept being ingrained into our school systems, or have politicization and controversy skewed its original meaning? Panelists will help us understand why critical race theory became a hot button issue, help us understand what critical race theory can teach us, and help us define what critical race theory is and isn't. Oct. 6: Grad Fest
10 a.m.-3 p.m., Richard Tam Alumni Center
Grad Fest (formerly known as Senior Send-Off) is a one-stop shopping experience for everything related to graduation. At the event, graduating students can purchase their cap and gowns, graduation announcements and invitations, class rings, diploma frames, and much more. Graduating students will have the opportunity to learn about the UNLV Alumni Association and receive their free alumni T-shirt and refreshments (while supplies last). Learn more.
Oct. 8-15: Rebel Homecoming
Rebel Homecoming, UNLV’s annual homecoming celebration, will take place Oct. 8-15. The weeklong celebration includes a pep rally, festival, parade, football game, and more. Learn more.
