March 28: How to Give Constructive Feedback on Colleagues’ and Mentees’ Writing Materials

Regardless of your field, at some point in your career, you'll most likely need to know how to give constructive feedback in the workplace. By participating in this workshop, you will: discuss the difference between negative and positive feedback; practice forming and delivering constructive, productive feedback; and receive tips and tricks to creating respectful, honest, and balanced communication.

Join the University Libraries to learn how to create games-based course assignments. By participating in this workshop, you will: learn about the process of using games-based learning to create or revise a course assignment, discuss different game elements and how they can enhance an assignment or activity, and complete a designing games for learning worksheet that follows backward design principles.

When crafting a resume, one of your main goals should be to grab the attention of hiring managers. This is accomplished by marketing yourself and highlighting skills that are in line with how you will be an asset to their company if they invest in you. By participating in this workshop, you will: learn about the top competency skills employers look for in candidates, find out how to establish an online presence through sites such as Handshake and LinkedIn, and gain a better understanding of social media awareness and your digital footprint.

While you're a graduate student at UNLV, you may have questions about financial services, progressing through your academic program, professional development opportunities, graduation, and more. Visit the Graduate Knowledge Center to find answers to questions asked frequently by UNLV graduate students. If you can't find what you're looking for there, visit the Graduate College website and click on "Live Chat" to virtually connect with a Graduate College team member any time Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Early Alert Wellness and Mental Health Resources
UNLV and the Graduate College offer the Early Alert text messaging system that confidentially checks in with students who opt in once a week and provides free wellness and mental health resources. Early Alert asks students to reflect on their emotional, physical, cognitive, relational, academic, and financial wellness. Based on their optional text response, students will receive free, easy-to-access resources to support them and help address their concerns. Learn more and opt in.
Join the Graduate College for the Inspiration, Innovation, Impact event, which showcases the best in UNLV graduate and professional student scholarly and creative activity. Graduate students will present five-minute, TED-style talks or performances around this year’s theme of “Power in Diversity: Unlocking Creativity and Research Together.” In addition, the audience will hear from a panel of UNLV faculty members and graduate students. May 1: 2nd Annual President's Innovation Challenge
Attend UNLV's 2nd annual President's Innovation Challenge, powered by Honeywell, to hear diverse teams of students present their solution to chart the course to a more sustainable future. The President's Innovation Challenge is a multidisciplinary team competition encouraging social and business entrepreneurship to help solve major challenges in Southern Nevada and beyond. A panel of judges will select winners and award prizes, including a $25,000 grand prize.

National Grad Crisis Line Available to Support Students
The National Grad Crisis Line helps graduate students reach free, confidential telephone counseling, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and information and referral services provided by specially trained call-takers. Graduate students can call 877-GRAD-HLP (877-472-3457) around the clock.
