March 21: Research Data Series: Data Storage and Sharing Basics

Learn about the essentials of storing your research data, in the short term during collaborations and analysis, and in the long term when you’re ready to publish your research. This interactive workshop focuses on difficult conversations; first, by exploring what makes them difficult; next, by discussing options for making them less painful and more productive; and finally, by exploring techniques for having difficult conversations in an interactive role play exercise. March 22: Inclusive Teaching Practices
3-4 p.m., Virtual
This workshop is aimed at unpacking the ways in which instructors can create inclusive learning environments as well as being intentional with their strategies and approaches to teaching and learning. This workshop will introduce participants to a variety of strategies they may consider adopting in their classrooms and lead a discussion around the goals of an inclusive classroom. March 23: Finding the Right Faculty Advisor for You

Faculty advisors play a crucial role in supporting your progression through school. By participating in this workshop, you will understand what your needs are as a student and what you look for in an advisor, identify what your research interests are and consider potential advisors, and make an outreach plan and draft an email introduction.

Besides paying for your educational costs out of pocket, you can use grants, scholarships, graduate assistantships, and federal and private student loans. How do these sources differ, and which should you pursue? This workshop will teach you different strategies for funding your graduate studies and highlight graduate assistantships. The Graduate College is excited to raise money for graduate students during Rebels Give on April 5 and 6! Here's how students can get involved in UNLV's annual giving day:
Join the Graduate College and the Graduate & Professional Student Association for free pizza on April 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lied Graduate Commons. Refreshments will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If you're able, make a gift during Rebels Give and help unlock the Graduate College Fellowship Challenge! The first 100 gifts to any Graduate College fund unlocks $5,000 to create a new completion fellowship for the 2022-23 academic year. A total of 125 gifts unlocks $7,500, and a total of 150 gifts unlocks $10,000.
Graduate Student Access Childcare Scholarship & GA Parental Leave
Being both a graduate student and parent is no easy feat. That's why the Graduate College offers the need-based Graduate Student Access Childcare Scholarship to graduate students with young dependents as well as parental leave to graduate assistants for childbirth or the placement of a child for adoption or foster care. April 1: 7th Annual Inspiration, Innovation, Impact: A Celebration of Graduate Student Research
The Inspiration, Innovation, Impact event showcases the best in UNLV graduate student research. The Graduate College invites you to join us to see a select group of outstanding graduate students from a variety of colleges giving short, five-minute, TED-style talks or performances. Inspiration, Innovation, Impact will take place April 1 from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Learn more and RSVP by March 25.
April 6: President's Innovation Challenge
How do we make Las Vegas’ economy more resilient, diversified, and sustainable? Join the UNLV Office of the President, UNLV Graduate College, UNLV Office of Economic Development, Black Fire Innovation, and the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development on April 6 at 4 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Strip View Pavilion for the inaugural President's Innovation Challenge, where you’ll hear teams of students present their innovative solutions to this question. A panel of judges will select winners and award prizes, including $20,000 for the winning team. Learn more and RSVP by April 4.
