Oct. 11: Effectively Communicating Your Research, Creative, and Scholarly Work
12-1:15 p.m., Virtual
This workshop will provide methods and techniques for properly and effectively delivering your studies! Learn how to avoid common pitfalls and mistakes such as jargon, death by PowerPoint, and more. This workshop will also prepare you for the following Graduate College events: Rebel Grad Slam; President's Innovation Challenge; Graduate Showcase; and Inspiration, Innovation, and Impact. Oct. 12: Get Hired!: Strengthen Your Interview Skills
12-1 p.m., Lied Library, Amargosa Room or Virtual
This workshop will help students strengthen their job interviewing skills. This workshop is part of the Life Design and Career Readiness Workshops series presented by UNLV Career Services, the Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach, and University Libraries. Learn more.
Oct. 13: Active Learning and Assessment
4-5 p.m., Virtual
Building active learning into class sessions can keep students engaged and improve learning. In this session, participants will receive practical tips for embedding active learning in their courses. We'll also talk about authentic assessments of student learning, focusing on learner-centered, and formative assessment practices that allow instructors to find out what students are learning and how well they are understanding it. Take What You Need Events
On Oct. 17 and Nov. 15, UNLV will offer Take What You Need events where UNLV community members can secure basic needs items such as toiletries and personal hygiene products, non-perishable food, clothing, bedding and other linens, etc. The events will take place in Student Union 208 A&B from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Donations are also accepted. Oct. 17: Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis Competition Application Deadline
Think you can present your research in just three minutes using one slide? Participate in the Graduate College's Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis Competition, where graduate students compete to win over the judges and audience for a chance at scholarship money. This year's weeklong competition will take place Oct. 31-Nov. 4. Learn more and apply by Oct. 17.
Oct. 20: Custom Regalia Deadline
If you’re graduating with a doctoral degree and would like to purchase custom academic regalia through the UNLV Bookstore, the deadline to submit an order is Oct. 20.

Oct. 8-15: Rebel Homecoming
Rebel Homecoming, UNLV’s annual homecoming celebration, will take place Oct. 8-15. The weeklong celebration includes a pep rally, festival, parade, football game, and more. Learn more and reserve your tickets for the Festival to avoid lines at the event.

Performance Optimization for Wellness, Empowerment, and Resilience (POWER) is a program for early bipolar disorders. Through a strength‐based interdisciplinary program, POWER provides support to individuals with early bipolar and their family members to optimize mental and physical wellness, relationships, education, employment, and other important life domains.
