Feb. 28: Writing Effective Research Abstracts
11 a.m.-12 p.m., Virtual
The abstract of a research project is the gateway to persuading readers to review your work. It is a short summary of your completed research and is intended to help potential readers determine the relevance of your paper by communicating your key findings. In this workshop you will learn about the structure of an abstract, how to compose an abstract, and evaluate current research abstracts.

Feb. 28: Debt Management

This workshop will offer participants valuable information on identifying, managing, and reducing debt, whether from credit cards, student loans, or other sources. Participants will learn about different types of debt, budgeting and debt management strategies, compare various debt management strategies, and how to create a personal plan for managing their debt.

March 1: Launching the Leader in You

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to leadership development frameworks that can be applied to their current work situation. By participating in this workshop you will learn how to define and differentiate management and leadership, identify appropriate leadership styles, understand the art and science of coaching, and recognize how to inspire your team to achieve goals.

March 1: Make the Most of Your ORCID

ORCID iDs can be used in a variety of ways, such as searching for and applying for grants, tracking your research in a central location, and much more.
In this one-hour virtual workshop, you will learn the benefits of using ORCID to search and apply for grants, discover ways ORCID interacts with other systems, and understand how ORCID can be used to track more than scholarship.

March 1: Organize and Cite Sources With Zotero

Zotero is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you keep track of your research sources, organize your notes, and format citations.
Join the University Libraries for this one-hour online workshop with Priscilla Finley, humanities librarian, who will walk you through the process of creating a Zotero library and integrating Zotero into your research and writing process, helping you identify the free, open-source program's potential to improve your academic writing workflow.

March 2: Research Writing
2-3 p.m., Virtual
This Rebel+ workshop will provide a brief overview of what's involved in creating an original research project, a brief introduction of how UNLV's research offices fit into this process, and tips for keeping your project organized and your relationship with your co-investigators successful.
The workshop will include concrete examples of language used in different parts of the IRB submission process. You will also get a look behind the curtain of Cayuse, an IRB submission system.

2023 President's Innovation Challenge Teams Announced
The UNLV Office of the President, UNLV Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, UNLV Graduate College, UNLV Office of Economic Development, and Black Fire Innovation are pleased to announce the teams that have advanced to the final round of the 2nd annual President's Innovation Challenge, a multidisciplinary team competition that encourages social and business entrepreneurship to help solve major problems of our day in Southern Nevada and beyond.

Students with questions about their thesis or dissertation can take advantage of the Graduate College's thesis and dissertation office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 12-2 p.m. Email grad.td@unlv.edu at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a virtual appointment. Learn more.
