However, we also know it will be a time to gather and begin healing, pay tribute to those lost, and honor all graduating students by acknowledging their hard work and accomplishments.
Campus and Community Resources
UNLV is offering mental health and counseling services to help the campus community process the traumatic Dec. 6 campus incident. It is typical for people to experience a variety of emotions following such a traumatic event. These feelings can include shock, sorrow, numbness, fear, anger, disillusionment, grief, and others.

UNLV’s Ombuds Office is always open to the campus community for interpersonal and group issues and facilitation. If you are currently struggling with interpersonal (supervisor/employee, peer/peer, or other) issues or group/organizational concerns, you can make an appointment with the Ombuds Office. End of Semester Changes
Instructors will submit final course letter grades for fall 2023 by Tuesday, Dec. 19. Letter grades will be posted in MyUNLV. After grades are posted, students have the option for S/U grading for the fall 2023 semester beginning Dec. 22. The Request for Change of Grading Basis in Graduate-Level Course form in Grad Rebel Gateway must be submitted to change the grading basis to Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) for fall 2023 courses no later than Jan. 5, 2024.
“S” and “U” grades are not included in the GPA or grade point balance calculations and may impact eligibility for some forms of financial aid and scholarships. Graduate students should contact the Graduate Coordinator/Graduate College RPC team at grad.rpc@unlv.edu before submitting.
Rebel Gram Slam 2023 Winners
Rebel Grad Slam, an annual weeklong event hosted by the Graduate College, challenges graduate students to present their research in a condensed and compelling way using only three minutes and one presentation slide.
Preliminary and semifinal rounds, which began on Nov. 27, culminated on Dec. 1 in a final round featuring 10 students representing disciplines ranging from anthropology to biological sciences.

Foundations of a Grant Lifecycle Badge Applications Being Accepted
While anyone can apply for a grant, even the best researchers need guidance to create compelling and competitive proposals. The Graduate College is accepting applications for its new Foundations of a Grant Lifecycle Badge, a free program with research- and expert-informed content to help graduate and professional students learn about researching funding opportunities, assessing fit, crafting winning proposals, and managing awarded grants. Dec. 22: Grad Rebel Writing Boot Camp Application Deadline
The Grad Rebel Writing Boot Camp assists students working on major writing pieces, including theses, dissertations, and publications.
