Feb. 15: Getting Started with ORCID
11 a.m.-12 p.m., Virtual
This hands-on workshop will help you understand the benefits of ORCID and how to populate your profile and maximize its impact. This workshop will help you learn the benefits of researcher IDs, specifically ORCID iDs; create an ORCID profile (if you don't already have one); and enhance your ORCID profile by populating it with your background, research, and other scholarly activity.

Feb. 16: Strategies for Research in Special Collections and Archives
10-11 a.m., Lied Library, Special Collections and Archives, Third Floor
This workshop is for anyone planning to use unique materials in library special collections and archives either at UNLV or at another library, archive, or museum. Participants will learn to locate where collections are held, use collection descriptions and finding aids to discover relevant material, and share tips on collecting and organizing the historical gems they uncover.

Feb. 16: Introduction to Open Access Part 1: How to Make Your Work Open

Join the University Libraries for this virtual workshop, which will focus on the practical aspects of open access, including how to achieve open sharing of scholarly publications with confidence. You will learn tips for finding open access journals and how to make articles published in traditional subscription-based journals open access for free.

Use iThenticate, the service that scans your own research, grant proposals, theses, and dissertations for missed citations and other mistakes that could be characterized as plagiarism. iThenticate is free for all UNLV graduate faculty, postdoctoral scholars, doctoral students, and master's students who have completed 15 credits of graduate coursework. Feb. 15: Call for Participants for UNLV's Quiz Bowl
During UNLV's Quiz Bowl -- taking place Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 5-6:30 p.m. -- teams of three to five students, alumni, and faculty/staff members will compete to answer questions about history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more. Teams can sign up by Feb. 15. The winning team will receive a prize. Food and drinks will be provided. The event is sponsored by Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 100, the Graduate College, and the Honors College.

Feb. 21: Call for Applicants for Inspiration, Innovation, Impact: A Celebration of Graduate Student Accomplishments
The Inspiration, Innovation, Impact event is a celebration of graduate student accomplishments. Graduate students from a variety of colleges present short, five-minute, TED-style talks or performances showcasing their research, scholarship, or creative activities. This year's theme is “Power in Diversity: Unlocking Creativity and Research Together." The Graduate College invites applicants interested in presenting the work they are doing that highlights our individual and collective commitment to change. Applications and videos are due Feb. 21. March 1: Mandatory Individual Development Plan
In December, all graduate students received an email to their RebelMail account from the Graduate College about the mandatory Individual Development Plan (IDP). Students who have not yet completed their IDP should do so by the deadline set by their departments, but no later than March 1. Students progressing actively in their programs will be able to report on their 2022 accomplishments and set goals for 2023. Please note that even students in their last semester are required to complete the IDP, as the data is also used for Top Tier reporting.

UNLV Registered Student Organizations
UNLV has more than 350 registered student organizations (RSOs), including graduate registered student organizations, that encompass a variety of different interests, activities, and beliefs. RSOs range from social action organizations to socially based organizations, and from religious-based clubs to sport clubs. Whatever your interest, UNLV has the organization to match.
