Graduate faculty mentors and advisors play a critical role in the development of graduate students. As students progress through their degree program, professional relationships often continue beyond their time at UNLV. This workshop will provide attendees with communication and conflict-resolution skills that will ensure healthy and positive mentor/mentee relationships.

UNLV Again Named Nation’s Most Diverse Campus
UNLV has again reached the top spot in "U.S. News & World Report’s" annual listing of the nation’s most diverse universities for undergraduates. The publication’s Campus Ethnic Diversity ranking identifies colleges where students are most likely to encounter undergraduates from racial or ethnic groups different from their own. UNLV placed in a four-way tie for first, with this year’s publication noting UNLV’s high percentage of Latinx students, which currently sits at approximately 32 percent. More than 65 percent of UNLV’s undergraduates identify as part of a racial or ethnic minority. Read more.
Participate in the Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis Competition!
Think you can present your research using only three minutes and one PowerPoint slide? Participate in this year's Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis Competition for the chance of winning more than $1,000 in scholarship money! This year's Rebel Grad Slam 3MT, hosted by the UNLV Graduate College, will take place virtually and in person from Oct. 25 to Nov. 2. Learn more and apply by Oct. 14.
Want some tips to help you succeed in the Rebel Grad Slam competition? Join the Graduate College for a Rebel Grad Slam: Tips & Tricks workshop on Oct. 1. This workshop will cover strategies for streamlining important aspects of your research and designing a slide that will stand out during the competition. It'll also feature previous winners and judges who will discuss their Rebel Grad Slam experiences, including presentation pitfalls and successes.

The Graduate College’s Medallion Program honors exceptionally involved and high-achieving students. Graduate students who have accumulated 100 points using the point system outlined on the program's webpage can apply for a Medallion to be worn at Commencement.
For students graduating in fall 2021, completed application forms must be emailed to the Graduate College by Sept. 29.
Fall 2021 Graduation Deadlines and Custom Academic Regalia Deadline
If you’re planning to graduate this semester, please keep in mind that the final day to submit an application for graduation through your MyUNLV account is Oct. 1. Learn more about graduation deadlines. If you’re graduating with a doctoral degree and would like to purchase custom academic regalia through the UNLV Bookstore, the deadline to submit an order is Oct. 19.

UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield will host an MSI Student Success Summit for the campus community on Sept. 24. President Whitfield will kick off the summit, sharing his vision for student success at UNLV and the university's role and responsibilities as a Minority-Serving, Hispanic-Serving, and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving institution. The day's events will also include a poster session; a student panel discussing what it means to be successful at UNLV; a series of break-out sessions; and a keynote address by Dr. Marcela Cuellar, who will host a Q&A session for graduate and professional students from 6-7 p.m. To join the Q&A session, join with Webex (meeting number: 2622 517 8216,

Sept. 24: Rethinking Graduate Admissions
10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Virtual
Join the Graduate College and host Dr. Harsha Perera (College of Education) for "Rethinking Graduate Admissions," a presentation and panel discussion with professors Sang Eun Woo (Purdue University), James M. LeBreton (Pennsylvania State University), Melissa G. Keith (Bowling Green State University), and Louis Tay (Purdue University). The group will discuss their research on "Bias, Fairness, and Validity in Graduate Admissions: A Psychometric Perspective." The research team explores the validity, bias, and fairness issues associated with several admission measures (grade point average, personal statements, resumes/CVs, letters of recommendation, interviews, and the Graduate Record Examination) and suggests steps to improve current admissions decisions.
