Dec. 5: Engaging Strategies: Insights from Incorporating Informal Learning
3-4 p.m., Virtual
In this session, Postdoctoral Scholar of Educator Preparation Noah Romero will delve into how educators and educational leaders can weave elements of informal learning into their strategies. This session will focus on fostering connectedness, striking balance, and promoting both healing and growth.

This workshop is intended to provide a space for students to discuss their experiences, share ideas, and identify strategies. Two staff members from UNLV’s Counseling and Psychological Services will help facilitate the conversation in which they will discuss how to navigate identity as an LGBTQIA person, maintaining safety, and other ways to get through the holidays.

Thesis/Dissertation Office Hours

Join the UNLV Graduate College to hear from Imelda Reyes about her professional journey. A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Reyes is the interim dean at the UNLV School of Nursing. Her non-traditional journey includes stops as a naval officer and nurse practitioner. The My Professional Origin Story series highlights the professional journeys of UNLV faculty and administrators. The Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA) supports graduate and professional students with their academic endeavors, advocates on their behalf, and inculcates a sense of camaraderie. The GPSA Council consists of 47 seats for representatives from each academic department and an unlimited number of non-voting seats for members-at-large (no department affiliation). The GPSA Council convenes regularly, typically on the first Thursday of each month. Learn more.

Jan. 20: UNLV Frosty Frolic: 5K Fun Run/Walk/Spectate
The Graduate & Professional Student Association and the Graduate College invite the UNLV community to lace up their sneakers and participate in the inaugural UNLV Frosty Frolic. Runners, walkers, and spectators are encouraged to register for the event and frolic along the scenic route of the UNLV campus. Registration fees and sponsorships of participants will directly impact important graduate and professional scholarly initiatives at UNLV.

Student Support Spot for Basic Needs
UNLV’s Student Support Spot provides free food packages, toiletry items, and guidance to students facing basic needs challenges (food, housing, transportation, mental health, child care, and digital access). Located in the University Gateway Building in the Welcome Center on the second floor, the Student Support Spot is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
